Adult Therapy

Many illnesses, disorders and injuries can be helped by utilizing therapy. Therapy, whether it be physical, occupational, aquatic or speech, helps people improve their quality of life. Some adult injuries or illnesses require only a short duration of therapy to expedite the recovery process or educate the patient on more normal movements. Other, more traumatic, adult injuries or illnesses may require extensive therapy in order for the patient to be functional with normal activities of daily life. Our therapists are experienced in treating:

  • Stroke
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Knee replacement
  • Hip replacement
  • Motor vehicle accident injuries
  • Joint injuries
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Shoulder Dysfunction
  • Hand Problems
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Swallowing disorders

Our Speech Therapy department offers complete diagnostic and treatment methods for swallowing disorders. Each patient is screened, and if necessary, more extensive evaluation can be accomplished through the combined efforts of the Radiology Department. Wise Regional Health System is proud to have on staff Board Certified Radiologists who work with our speech-language pathologists in problem solving so the therapists can develop an effective treatment plan.

Our caring, specialized therapists are educated using a variety of modalities (heat, cold, paraffin, ultrasound, electrical stimulation), techniques and exercises to provide safe, effective and desired outcomes for patients. Each of our staff members strives for patients to leave therapy more educated, stronger and more functional than before they began therapy.
