Weight loss surgery is a CURE for severe obesity, if used along with diet, exercise, and a lifelong follow-up with your surgeon.  (After surgery, you must be committed to a lifelong follow-up care program with your physician and surgeon as well as extensive dietary, exercise and medical guidelines.)  To be considered for weight loss surgery, you must: 

Be approximately 100 pounds or more over ideal weight and/or have a BMI of 35 or greater with other illnesses such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes.

OR
