Public Safety & Security
Public Safety/ Security
The Wise Regional Health System Public Safety Department has grown to include 15 Security Officers and 10 Police Officers. The combination of police and security qualify the hospital as a stand-alone public safety department.
As a public safety department, our goal and mission is to keep all who enter our facility safe with the expectation they will be treated fairly and can move about our facility knowing they and their property will be secure. The department enforces Texas state laws, hospital policies, and city ordinances. They conduct their own investigations, make arrest when needed and assist other law enforcement agencies as needed. The department averages approximately 12,000 calls for service each year. Both hospital campuses are monitored by video surveillance and patrolled 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week.
The department assists other hospital departments with high emotional patients, family members and visitors. Officers provide guests assistance with vehicle problems, aid in helping patients into the Emergency Room from their cars and on a daily basis conduct drills with each shift in an effort to stay prepared for disaster or emergency situations.
The Public Safety Department is led by Phillip Rodriguez, who joined the Wise Regional team in 2007 with 26 years of law enforcement background. Mr. Rodriguez is also a certified Fire Marshall, fire fighter, Fire and Arson Investigator and a paramedic and has served as Chief of Police and a Chief Deputy in his past careers.
