Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Wise Regional boasts an advanced cardiac catheterization lab, the only one of its kind in Wise County.

Cardiologists and radiologists perform diagnostic catheterization / angiography of the heart arteries as well as arteries in the abdomen, legs, arms, head and neck. These specialized studies of the heart help physicians determine how to handle the repair of coronary blockages, which methods to use, and the need for more aggressive intervention, such as bypass surgery.

Cardiac Care Unit

For patients who’ve had a heart attack or major cardiac surgery, the cardiac care unit at Wise Regional is equipped to provide continuing specialized care until the patient is stable enough to be moved to a unit with a less intense level of care.

The CCU at Wise Regional offers the most up-to-date monitoring and testing equipment. Our highly trained staff is able to treat cardiac patients in calm, quite setting to provide individualized care, with a one-to-one nurse to patient ratio for the first 24 hours of a patients’ stay in CCU.

You are monitored throughout your prescribed exercise times with the newest technology and computer programs to give feedback on your progress. In addition, you are educated on how your heart and lungs work, ways to decrease stress levels and how to choose healthy diets.
